Having lived in Edinburgh I have spent a lot of time travelling in Scotland, touring around the Scottish Highlands. Its a pretty amazing place, especially when the weather's right. Recently the fam and I were invited by a family friend to their hunting lodge (primarily deer stalking) in Inverness-shire near to Loch Ness. We also happened to have some of the best weather that the UK has seen in a long, long time. The lodge was remoter beyond a loch and at the end of a valley, complete with no electricity and phone signal.. Pretty different from my native Battersea!
It was really good to be up north again for a few days, travel to the Highlands seems to be increasingly popular (not least due to a certain James Bond film); so if you ever get the chance don't pass it up.
Can you spot it?
It was full of stags heads, though sadly not as all well dressed as this fellah.
On the way into the haunted house I was nearly taken out by one of these.
We also had this lovely (and now rather elderly) girl's company.
